5 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Chimps
This 5days (4nights) safari starts and ends in Rwanda. It takes you to Volcanoes National Park (Park Nationale des Volcans) in Rwanda for gorilla tracking and golden monkey tracking or a hike to the Dian Fossey grave. The scenery in the shadow of the Volcans is one of the most breath taking in Africa. Combine the ultimate primate experience with a day of trekking volcanoes in the incredible scenery bordering Rwanda and the democratic Republic of Congo. First, trek through local villages and lush rain forests, with a breath taking reward at the end: finding your self in the company of a family of gorillas. The next day also gifted with yet another trek in search for golden monkey, or you could choose to hike the volcanoe to Dian Fossey’s grave. Accommodation is both in Luxury and Budget establishments and you will spend your nights in, La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Gorilla Nest Lodge and Gisakura Guest House.
TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive at Ruhengeri
Just as you arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by our safari guide who will greet you and welcome you to Rwanda. You will have lunch and later be transferred to Volcanoes National Park. The journey to the North goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape and you will come in contact with of splendid Virunga Volcanoes on your way to Ruhengeri. Day 2: Gorilla trekking
An early morning breakfast, and then drive to the park headquarters of Parc National des Volcans where you will be briefed by the ranger guides, then you will start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Hiking and tracking gorillas may take 1-8 hours. Opportunities are available for you to Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. You may have an optional ibyiwacu community walk OR a relaxation at the lodge. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe
After breakfast, you will drive to Kigali and later head to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the way, you will visit the reconstructed King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Memorial. You will then stop over at Butare for lunch an then proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking
On this day, you will wake early enough, have breakfast, and at exactly 6:00am, you will proceed to Nyungwe Forest to search for chimpanzees. You will also track the colobus monkeys in the forest and have a chance to view the other habitants of the forest like birds, reptiles and butterflies. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House
Day 5: Departure
According to your flight schedule, you will depart for Kigali and carry out a city tour including the market visits, handicraft shop visits, pottery projects, genocide museum visit and many others. After visiting and shopping, you will transfer to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight.
