8 Days Rwanda Safari Adventure - Virunga Hikes & PNV Gorilla Trekking Tour

This 8days Virunga Gorilla Tour (7nights) will begin and commence at in Rwanda. It takes you to Volcanoes National Park (Park Nationale des Volcans) in Rwanda for gorilla tracking and golden monkey tracking or a hike to the Dian Fossey grave. The scenery in the shadow of the Volcans is one of the most breath taking in Africa. Combine the golden monkey experience with a day of trekking volcanoes in the incredible scenery bordering Rwanda and the democratic Republic of Congo. First, trek through local villages and lush rain forests, with a breath taking reward at the end: finding your self in the company of a family of gorillas.

The next day also gifted with yet another trek in search for golden monkey, or you could choose to hike the volcanoe to Dian Fossey’s grave or on mount Bisoke. Accommodation is both in Luxury and Budget establishments and you will spend 5 days in La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House/Gorilla Nest Lodge and  and 2 days (day 6 and 7) in Mgahinga Safari Lodge/Travelers rest/Kisoro Tourist Hotel    

TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive at Ruhengeri
On arrival at the Kigali Airport, you will be met and greeted by our safari guide. You will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park after lunch. The journey to the North goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape. On your way to Ruhengeri, you will come in contact with the base of the splendid Virunga volcanoes. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House.

Day 2 and 3: Gorilla trekking
Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. You will be briefed by our ranger guides and then start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Hiking and tracking gorillas may take 1-8 hours.  Sight and stay with the Gorillas for one hour and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. You may have an optional ibyiwacu community walk OR a relaxation at the lodge. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House

Day 4: Golden monkey tracking
After breakfast, you will have a golden monkey track. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. You are free to remain in the Volcanoes to identify other animal species and come back at the Lodge for a late lunch. After lunch, you will have an optional community walk. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House

Day 5: Mount Bisoke Hike
You will meet the guide at the park headquarter that is after breakfast and proceed for the Bisoke hiking, which takes around 3 hours trek. Please note that this trek can be less or above the estimated time, depending on the fitness of the climber. After the hike, you will be transferred back to the hotel for a lunch break and then you will have an optional of relaxation at the hotel or have a community walk. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House

Day 6: Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
You will cross the Rwanda-Uganda border at Cyanika to Kisoro just after taking your breakfast. On your arrival, relax at the lodge, you can also choose to discover the surroundings of the Lodge. After that, overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge/Travelers rest/Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking
You will move through the gorilla’s world of course after break fast and you clearing up aspects of their eco-systems and behaviour. It will be our company guide to take you around Gorilla trekking is the most exciting and unforgettable experience, which might take one through a thick jungle for the whole of the day. This activity can be tiring walk so one has to go geared up. Overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge/Travelers’ rest/Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 8: Departure
After a morning breakfast, drive back to Rwanda and be transferred to Kigali Airport to catch your departure flight back home.
